VIGNETTES II

© 1997, 1999 Clinton Cyril Somerton

clean bare hands tie
your face in a grin you
breathe your secrets in
intimate whispers
rescued screams
from the holes in your being

your noises leak
the language of your soul
while a torrent of never-played roles
pours behind clouded eyes

passion
laughing out loud at last
a sputtering courage
unbound in the bittersweet
ceasing of your heart

swollen-throated thundergod
recites a sigh
the echo of loss
confessed across the window of twilight
aware and always searching
from never
to tomorrow
